Editorial policy and how we handle data
Rikaido is a free web service where you make a 2-choice quiz about yourself and see how well your friends know you. This page explains how we make and check the pages on this site, such as How to Play & FAQ and About this site, and how we handle the answers collected here.
Who runs this site
Rikaido is planned, built and run by one independent developer, Quaqua. It's a personal project, not a company or a team, and our pages aren't reviewed by outside experts. We post news on X (@rikaido_me), which is also the fastest way to reach us.
Why we publish these pages
We write pages for two reasons:
- To help players get started and sort out problems without getting stuck
- To share what the answers on Rikaido show, without overstating it
We don't add pages just to show up in search results. We only write a page when we can say what a player would struggle with if it didn't exist.
About the English version
The English version has its own question bank, written for English speakers rather than translated from the Japanese version. Quizzes, results and statistics are stored and counted separately for each language, so the numbers on the English pages come only from the English version.
How we make and check our pages
- Start from one thing players need: each page focuses on one thing players want to know or might get stuck on.
- Check against the real app: the number of questions, what each screen shows and how to manage a quiz are checked against the live app and its code before we write about them.
- Take numbers from the data: counts and percentages come from the collected data, never from guesses.
- Keep pages up to date: when the app changes or we find a mistake, we fix the page and update its date.
How we use generative AI
We use generative AI (Claude) to plan, draft and translate our pages, and to write the scripts that tally the data. Because the operator's first language is Japanese, new and revised English pages are also checked by a separate AI model that had no part in writing them. Before a page goes live, the operator checks that it matches the real app screens and that its numbers match the data.
App screenshots are taken from the real app, using made-up nicknames and answers. We never show real players' nicknames or results.
How we handle the data
Everyone's answers
The Everyone's answers page counts how often quiz creators chose each option as their own answer. If the same person answers the same question in several quizzes, each answer is counted, so the figures are numbers of answers, not numbers of people. Questions with fewer than 3 answers are not shown.
Things to keep in mind
- Creators choose their answers knowing that friends will see them in a quiz.
- Answers from quizzes made in the Love edition are counted together with the same questions in the main edition's Love category.
- These statistics never include anything that could identify a person. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information.
Ads and affiliate links
To cover running costs such as server and database fees, we show affiliate (referral) links and may also show ads. Ads and affiliate links are labelled "Ad". We never change what a page says because of ads or affiliate links.
Reporting a mistake or sending feedback
If you find a mistake, something unclear, or a description that doesn't match the current app, please let us know through the Contact page, including the page URL and the part in question. We'll check it and fix it if needed.
